FAQs
What does the A1B1E1 rating mean?
The A1B1E1 rating indicates the filter provides protection against: 'A' for organic vapours with boiling points above 65°C (Class 1), 'B' for inorganic gases (Class 1), and 'E' for acid gases (Class 1).
Can these filters be used for particulate protection?
No, these gas and vapour cartridges do not filter particulates. For combined protection against particulates (like dusts, mists, and fumes), they must be used in conjunction with appropriate 3M™ Particulate Filters (e.g., 3M™ 5925 P2) and a 3M™ Filter Retainer (e.g., 3M™ 501).
How often should these filters be replaced?
As per AS/NZS 1715:2009 Section 4.2.5.3, all classes of gas filters, including these, should be discarded no longer than six months after opening, regardless of the number of periods of use. They should also be replaced if you smell or taste contaminants, or if breathing becomes difficult.
What respirators are compatible with the 3M™ 6057 filters?
These filters are compatible with all 3M™ Half Face Respirators from the 6000, 6500QL, and 7500 Series, as well as 3M™ Full Face Respirators from the 6000 and FF-400 Series.
Are there any environments where these filters should NOT be used?
Yes, these filters should not be used in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen, in pure oxygen or oxygen-enriched atmospheres, or against contaminants that are unknown, immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH), or have poor warning properties.
